Welcome to the Boiseko Ikastola
Ongi etorri!
Both Basque and non-Basque children welcome. The school is a program of the Boise Basque Museum & Cultural Center, and is open to both Basque and non-Basque students, 2 to 6 years of age.
The Ikastola's unique curriculum focuses on language acquisition and the development of reading, writing and math skills. All classes are taught in the Basque language, which the young students learn easily. Research has shown that exposing children to a second language at an early age gives them an advantage later in areas such as mathematics, language and cultural awareness.
Boiseko Ikastola hosts a variety of field trips, dance classes, parent teacher conferences, and public programs and activities for students and families. We offer part time and full time opportunities as well as kindergarten schedule accommodations. Instructors at the school are from the Basque Country and have degrees in Early Childhood Development. We have a 1:8-10 teacher to child ratio and not a day goes by that one doesn't hear lots of stories, songs and laughter throughout the building.
Enrollment is limited to 56 students per school year. The school is a non-profit organization and follows the Boise School District's traditional school year calendar, opening every year in August and remaining open until early June.
Please feel free to come in and experience a day-in-the-life of an Ikastola preschooler!
